in a bag
Three
apples of the same variety and a paper bag. Table lamp for light source,
sketch book for working in. Range of pencils, charcoal, white chalk &
fixative. I will bring grey paper.
TONE.
First hour just pencil black and white, after coffee charcoal and chalk.
Jan
20th
Liquorice
Allsorts composition
Box
of Liquorice Allsorts, table lamp, piece of white paper, small pieces of
black sugar paper, scissors, prittstick, coloured drawing media, watercolour
pencils & watercolours.
COMPOSTION.
After some initial compositional exercises using collage we will set about
doing a small picture of the liquorice allsorts. Cubes and ellipses.

Single
colour still-life from 3 or 4 objects
Table
lamp,sketch book paints of choice. Bring in 3or 4 objects of the same basic
colour. Choose red yellow or blue.
COLOUR.
After some basic colour mixing exercises we will attempt to do a one colour
still life. Looking at how to make darks without using black and colours
lighter without using white.

versatile approach
Sketch
Book Ruler. Paints of choice. Drawing materials
COMPOSITION.
I will set up a very big still life. You will be asked to draw a small portion
of it. Once you have got a reasonable composition you will be asked to treat
it in very different ways.

Techniques
day. Stretching paper. Mixing greens Cutting a mount.
Sketch
book, materials of choice, piece of watercolor paper, wooden board to fit
the paper, brown gummed tape. Mount cutter and piece of card if you have
one.
TECHNIQUES.
Hope that this how to do it session might help smooth out some of the practical
difficulties you have with your work.

with flowers.
Sketch
book for small composition sketches. Paints of choice. Could use a small
canvas.
Think
about all we have learnt this term and try to put it together in one small
picture.

Mar 10th The Still life and
the Portrait
Sketch book for initial
compositional sketches Camera Materials of choice. Bring appropriate support.
Model present
I will set up a still-life
that will include a model. After some initial sketches I am expecting you
to make a picture that will include the model and the still life. This is
quite challenging but I think you are all quite good now.

picture this week. If time we could have a crit at 12.15
Mar24th Still-life with Collage
and Print
Sketch book, cartridge
paper, collage papers & Prittstik. I will provide ink glass and rollers.Oil
crayons and paint for later additions
Using previous still
life drawings for inspiration you will be encouraged to make a monoprint
on collaged paper. This is to encourage your creativity and work spontaneously.
Mar 31st Still-life in a shoe
box with background
Shoe box ,with two
small objects in it On the back wall of the shoe box there is a photo of
a scene. You must choose the objects and the photo carefully. Table lamp
Paints of choice, Support. Small size so you can finish it.
This exercise was inspired
by the recent Eric Rimmington exhibition at the Bohan. He used this device
quite often.Once you have chosen the objects the picture should come together
easily.
The
Term’s Fee is £99 for 11 lessons.
